I have been with this vets for about 10 years, with our old dogs and now our puppies. I have often questioned the morality of this veterinary practice over various things however last week was my tipping point. I took my 17 month old dog in to be spayed, it wasn't a vet booking her in, I believe it was a veterinary nurse. I went into the consultation room where he asked me about my contract details and my dogs dob etc, he then proceeded to tell me (without ANY examination of my dog), that there has been an increase in dogs going in to be spayed that are having phantom pregnancies (like it's contagious), well we know where this is going! He said he needed to take my dog to be checked by the vet for said phantom pregnancy, he can back with my dog 2 mins later stating that she is in deed having a phantom pregnancy as there was a small amount of fluid coming from her nipples, he didn't even consider that it could be anything else. He gave me 2 options either she goes through her next season and then I can take her back to be spayed or they can give me some medication to stop the said phantom pregnancy at the cost of £85 and then I can take her back in a couple of weeks to be spayed, my dog has not shown any signs of nesting, lethargy, reduced appetite etc. I lost it at that point as they clearly were either trying to extort more money out of me or they were short staffed and didn't have the staff to perform the op. I say this with confidence as I took my dog to another vet with excellent reviews and they spayed her yesterday, I specifically asked about the phantom pregnancy and they assured me that she did not show any real signs of a phantom pregnancy. So vets4pets have certainly lost our custom. Absolute daylight robbery and complete lack of caring about the welfare of animals. Disgusting and despicable behaviour and yes David is the most rude and arrogant vet you will come across. We should have left there years ago

I was originally booked for a nail clip with my dog , with the nurse. However when I arrived at the vets I realised there was blood on my dogs leg. The nurse took a look and advised that a lump had burst on her joint. He told me that he wouldn't clip her nails as he didn't want to stress her out, but said he would like the vet to see her. I was able to be booked I'm straight away, which was good. The vet cleaned the area and bandaged up her leg. I was given antibiotics and advise on caring for the area. Very impressed with the service as I always have been! I know the prices have increased with everything but £59 for the visit is astronomical, especially when I belong to the healthy pet plan😔

The reception staff were lovely but the vet, David, was incredibly rude and short tempered. Seemed like it was an annoyance to him when describing some ongoing issues my cat was experiencing and was very blunt and short in his responses. Very intimidating and not at all easy to discuss issues in an environment that is supposedly meant to be. Finding a new vet and would recommend anyone to look elsewhere.

Customer service 1! When I have asked nurse T why I am paying more than I was told (no extra treatment was done ) , her answer was , because it was an estimate. Wrong and rude answer! Hasn't offered me an invoice till the following day, after I called again. If you are taking your dog for dental treatment don't be fooled by estimate of £250. Also when nurse before treatment reading a document TO YOU about extra procedures (do you want us to contact you regarding removing tooth or taking blood test) , then asking you to sign a document while you holding your dog, PLEASE read all document before signing. You'll probably find there an estimate of £285-£600, that you can pay! I also received an email from directors reassuring, that service and care ,that they provide is excellent. Made me feel , that is my fault. Dear directors, treatment you've provided for my dog was excellent, but please make your your customers are fully aware of price, they are going to pay . Customer service I don't agree is excellent at all. Won't be using this vets anymore.

My 8 month old ragdoll had his neutering done here today and the staff were absolutely lovely. We'd left it longer due to Floki having a potential murmur that was picked up when he was 3 months old and came back and were told everything had now cleared up and the surgery could now go ahead. He was fussed over and loved on by the nurses which I am sure he would have loved. All in all, we had a wonderful experience at Vets4Pets in Wincheap and would use their services again in future.
